Otto B. Stadeli
My parents both came from Switzerland. I was born September 18, 1928 in a house on Stadeli Lane. I attended Evergreen School for eight years, and worked on my parents’ farm until age 18. I got married and had 11 children.
I worked in several sawmills until I started my own business. I have had a business in Silverton since 1955, and still have a business today. I also had a farm where I raised Hereford cattle.
I like doing things to help others. I joined the Lions Club in 1991, and was Chairman of Lions Sight and Hearing in Portland for one year. I was a member of the Silverton Elks for 12 years, serving as President for four. I belonged to the Silverton Mural Society, and was the first male to join the Silvertones.
I am a lifetime member of the Silverton Senior Center, and have enjoyed serving on the Board for many years.
My wife Elsie and I live on South Water Street and attend Peoples Church in Salem.
